# Supco Canada: instructions for AI agents

This file is for AI agents working on behalf of a person: finding locomotive
parts, checking part numbers, and preparing quote requests at https://supcocanada.com.

## What this site is

- Supco Canada Railway Supply Group: independent aftermarket supplier of EMD® and GE® locomotive parts, Maple, Ontario, Canada.
- 19,275 parts across 12 categories. Each part has its own page.
- **Quote-only B2B sales.** No cart, no checkout, no public prices, no customer accounts.
  Never state a price, stock level or delivery date. Those come only from a written quote.

## Fastest way to find a part

Pick whichever fits your capabilities:

1. **WebMCP tools** (Chrome, Edge and ChatGPT Desktop with WebMCP): every page registers the
   tools listed below. Call `search-parts` instead of typing into the search box.
2. **Structured data, no browser needed**:
   - [/search-index.json](https://supcocanada.com/search-index.json): every part as
     `{ slug, sku, sup, name, cat, sub, catName }`. `sku` is the OEM number, `sup` is the Supco SKU.
     Build the page URL as `https://supcocanada.com/products/{cat}/{sub}/{slug}/`.
   - [/catalog.json](https://supcocanada.com/catalog.json): categories and subcategories with URLs and part counts.
3. **Search page**: `https://supcocanada.com/search/?q=<part number or keywords>`.
   Results render client-side, so this route needs a JavaScript-capable browser.
4. **Product pages** contain schema.org `Product` JSON-LD: `mpn` = OEM number,
   `sku` = Supco SKU, `alternateName` = dash-free aliases. Example: https://supcocanada.com/products/truck-assembly/journal-bearing-truck-assembly/8486278-gear-58-teeth/

Part-number matching should ignore case, dashes and spaces. `SUP-173-030`, `sup173030`
and `8486278` all identify the part on the page above.

If a part number is not in the catalogue, say so and suggest a quote request anyway.
Supco can often source parts that are not listed. Do not guess or invent part numbers.

## WebMCP tools on this site

Registered on every page in browsers that support WebMCP (`document.modelContext`):

On the contact page the Request a Quote form is also exposed as the declarative WebMCP
tool `request-quote`. The agent can fill it in, but **a person must review and press Send**.
The form has no auto-submit on purpose.

## Requesting a quote for a user

Supco Canada sells by quotation only. There is no online cart, checkout, or public price list. Prices, stock, and lead times are confirmed by the sales team in a written quote.

Stocked items typically ship within 1 to 2 weeks. Custom-manufactured components generally take 4 to 16 weeks.

Include in the request:
- Part number (OEM reference such as 8486278, or Supco SKU such as SUP-118-001)
- Quantity required
- Locomotive model (for example EMD SD70, GE ES44DC)
- Delivery country

Ways to send it:
- Use the Request a Quote form at https://supcocanada.com/contact/ (a person must review and press Send).
- Or email contact@supcocanada.com with the part number(s), quantity, locomotive model, and delivery country.
- Or call +1 (905) 303-7100, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00 Eastern Time.

Required form fields: `name`, `email`, `message`. Optional: `company`, `phone`, `country`,
`part_number`, `locomotive`. Use the user's real details only, and only with their consent.
Submissions are screened for spam; automated or bulk submissions are rejected.

## Rules

- Do not submit the quote form, send email, or call on a user's behalf without their explicit go-ahead.
- Do not state prices, stock, lead times beyond the general ranges above, or compatibility the page does not state.
- Quote OEM part numbers exactly as shown on the product page.
- Link the user to the product page you used so they can check it.
